About Attila
Inspired by hands-on fieldwork and research, and has worked with marginalized communities, youth facing substance abuse, and families with housing insecurity. I am a Bachelor of Social Work candidate at George Mason University (Spring 2025), passionate about advocacy and social justice and bridging the gaps between social services and those in need. These experiences have reinforced my commitment to empowerment, resource accessibility, and systemic change.

My Journey into Social Work
Throughout my life, I have often found myself reflecting on my future, questioning where I would be in the next ten years and what kind of impact I would make. Social work was not my first career aspiration, but over time, I discovered that my passion for helping others and advocating for social justice was leading me toward this field. George Mason University’s School of Social Work has provided me with the knowledge, skills, and confidence necessary to embark on a meaningful career in social work.
My Passion for Social Work
The decision to pursue social work stemmed from my personal experiences witnessing the disparities and struggles within communities. From an early age, I found myself drawn to helping others, listening to their stories, and wanting to make a difference. I have seen firsthand how the social welfare system functions—both its successes and failures. These experiences fueled my desire to become a social worker who advocates for systemic change and provides meaningful support to individuals and families in need.

My Education and Growth at GMU
During my time at GMU, I have immersed myself in coursework and fieldwork that have strengthened my understanding of social work theories, practices, and policies. My education has taught me the importance of cultural competence, ethical practice, research-informed interventions, and policy advocacy. Through internships and volunteer work, I have developed critical skills in assessment, intervention, and collaboration with diverse populations.
Future Aspirations
As I prepare to graduate, I am eager to continue my journey in social work by pursuing opportunities that allow me to work with marginalized communities, advocate for policy changes, and contribute to social justice efforts. Whether working in clinical settings, community organizations, or policy development, my goal is to be an agent of change who empowers individuals and communities to overcome challenges and achieve stability.
